The “St. Andrew’s Collection” is a collection of music specifically targeted to modest church musicians in traditional worship services. All the music is arranged and/or composed by me, and it is all free (being either original compositions or arrangements of music in the public domain). It is also offered royalty-free. No need to report its use for performance, recording or streaming, as is required with some copyrighted material. The music is copyrighted only to prevent it from being published by anyone other than me, and it is published for sale on other websites (because this website is difficult to find), but it is free here. How can I, and why would I do this? Simple. This is an expression of my gratitude for all the benefits I have received from the Lord’s hand, and not a money-making venture. So to be clear, ANY use of the music on this website is FREE. Download it, perform it, record it, stream it, whatever you want. I grant all permissions to do so. It’s all FREE.
You need NOT provide any information about yourself in order to freely download the sheet music in PDF format. You can listen to the music while watching the sheet music by clicking on the provided Youtube video link. There is no limit to the amount of music you may download, and the ability to re-download never expires.
For hymn settings, a repeated stanza is provided for convenience, taken from one of several hymnals at my disposal, but I would expect you to use the version of the hymn familiar to you, likely from your church’s hymnal, switching to my setting for either the interlude or the final stanza. Interludes are provided because the choir at St. Andrew’s processes and recesses. For the recessional, we need a little time to queue up behind the crucifer.
The sheet music and sound demos were created using MuseScore Studio, occasionally augmented using Logic Pro X. The computer choirs can only sing “Ahhh”, not words. But you can see the words and follow along with the music on the videos provided. Because there is no charge for this music, I have not produced professional samples with real singers and instrumentalists.
Since there are now about 400 works on this website, I have tried to include keywords such as Easter, Lent, Advent, Christmas, etc. to aid in searches. New material is added weekly. Please check back regularly for new and updated material, and if you have a specific desire for a specific piece of music, please reach out to me. My composing and arranging services, like my music, are always free.
Like any composer/arranger I suppose, I often listen to something I did a couple of years ago and think “Ugh, that’s awful”, and rewrite it. So feel free to use this site as your own personal digital file cabinet and even though you’ve downloaded something, when it comes time to use it, check back to see if it has been updated.
Although firmly routed in traditional music for modest church musicians, I also write secular music and even symphonic music (https://www.youtube.com/@MarkRippe). You can find many of my compositions and arrangements on other publisher websites including JWPepper.com, SheetMusicDirect.com, and SheetMusicPlus.com.
